The W8 SE Version is, like the base model, a sophisticated three-way, four-driver, floor-standing speaker that, starting from Boenicke Audio 's characteristic natural-shaped enclosure with computer-optimized internal labyrinth, incorporates unique solutions that make it a different product. The side-firing woofer is a Tang Band model and has been designed for large displacements. Despite its modest 165 mm (6,5”) diameter, it is tuned to 28 Hz and is not filtered, an unequivocal symbol of its extreme quality. Also the Tang Band midrange speaker, equipped with a 102 mm (4”) diameter papermembrane and apple wood phase plug, has been custom made following the demanding specifications of Boenicke Audio, while incorporating one of the brand's exclusive parallel electromechanical resonators. Likewise, it includes a first-order low-pass filter although not a high-pass filter, to which exclusive elements are added to optimize its key parameters. The topmost driver mounted on the front baffle is a Fountek F85 wide-range. whose 52mm diameter cone is made from aluminium and driven (in combination with a ferrite magnet) by a copper voice coil. There is a silk dome tweeter mounted on the rear of the speaker (a Mana- cor DT-25N with the ‘N’ indicating that it has a neodymium magnet). Also worth highlighting in the W8 SE Version is the use of Duelund Tinned Copper Foil 0.01 uF bypass capacitor, KLEI Classic Harmony Silver binding posts with own wooden Green Harmonia laser informed clamping nut as well as the presence of Bybee's highly imaginative “Quantum Purifiers” and a circuit specifically designed to linearize the curve, phase response. Specifications: Sensitivity: 84 – 88dB/W/m.
