Solid state stereo amp is designed as a hi-fi 'hub' with built-in DAC, headphone amp and MM phono stage, all wrapped up in classic McIntosh styling. The digital-to-analogue converter can handle audio files up to 32-bit/192kHz played from connected devices, which can be hooked up via the optical, coaxial or asynchronous USB inputs. Large power transformer with multiple filter capacitors and regulated power supply ensures stable noise free operation. Patented McIntosh Power Guard circuit prevents amplifier clipping to protect speakers. Home Theater Pass Through allows amplifier to become part of a multichannel sound system. Like all McIntosh products, it produces a ‘big’ sound, but not ‘big and brash’, just big. Images are not overlarge, but the soundstage the MA5200 presents is far larger than most. It has an grand sense of scale to the presentation as well. Specifications: Power output: 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms. THD: 0.005% (at 20Hz to 20,000Hz). Frequency responses: 10 -100,000 Hz (+0, -3dB). S/N Ratio: 95dB (line level), 82dB (phono), 110dB (power amp). Damping factor: >200. Input Impedance: High Level, 20K ohms. Phono MM, 47K ohms; 50pF. Power Amp In, 10K ohms. Preamplifier Output Impedance: 220 ohms. Headphone Impedance: 20 to 600 ohms. (3) Digital inputs: 1x USB 2.0 asynchronous type B, 1 x Coaxial (RCA) and 1 x Optical (Toslink). Digital Input Sample Rates: Optical: 16Bit, 24Bit – 32kHz to 96kHz, Coaxial: 16Bit, 24Bit – 32kHz to 96kHz and USB (Type B): 16Bit, 24Bit, 32Bit – 32kHz to 192kHz. (6) Analogue Inputs: 1 x MM phono, 4 x single-ended (RCA), 1 x balanced (XLR). Outputs: Full-size headphone output and RCA preamp out/power amp input jacks. Four Data Ports provide remote control of amplifier-connected McIntosh source components. Remarks: No original packaging.
