The top loading C.E.C. TL-51XR is belt-driven. The motor is said to be a low-torque motor that spins a relatively heavy "puck", made of a ceramic material, and sitting on top of the spindle. TL-51 XR uses one Burr Brown PCM 1796 DAC. By using the DAC in dual-mono, it guarantees ultra low distortion, high dynamic range and channel separation. The DAC upsamples to 192 kHz. The digital filter works in a delta sigma configuration for the "best dynamic performance, lowest distortion, and increasing the linearity at the lowest level". C.E.C. uses what it calls a landmark technology, "current injection" (CI) which is said to shorten the signal path. CI is said to require a non-negative feedback amplifier and replaces the voltage amplifier, which would otherwise normally be present. With extraordinary mid and high frequencies, with rarely heard realism, brilliant resolution and all the detail the way it is heard live. Specifications: (4) Digital inputs: 1 x AES/EBU (XLR), 1 x Coaxial (RCA), 1 x optical (Toslink) and 1 x Superlink (C.E.C.'s 9 pin connector). (2) Analog outputs: 1 x balanced (XLR-4Vrms) and 1 x unbalanced (RCA-2Vrms). THD: RCA: 0,018%, XLR: 0,010%. Channel Separation: RCA: >88dB, XLR: >94dB. S/N ratio: RCA: 104dB, XLR: 114dB. Frequency response: 20Hz-20kHz/+/-.0.25. Dynamic range: 97dB.
